About The Chasin Journal
The Chasin Journal is for the rest of us.
The Mission: Real Gear. Real Results.
This isn't a fitness magazine, and I’m not a professional athlete. I don't have a background in sports science, and I’m not here to give you "expert" medical advice.
I’m just a guy on the internet documenting a journey.
The Chasin’ Journal was created to be a place for everyone—from the person just starting out to the seasoned hiker—to get helpful tips and honest gear reviews. My goal is to provide practical, real-world insights for the everyday individual who wants to improve without the elitism.
The Journey: From 280 lbs. to the Trail.
In late 2024, I weighed 280 lbs. Today, I am 198 lbs.
That 82-pound difference wasn't won in a lab; it was won through trial and error on the trails. I learned the hard way which socks cause blisters, which vests actually stay stable, and which mindsets keep you moving when you want to quit. I’m not done yet—I’m currently training to eventually run an Ultra Marathon and have my sights set on one day thru-hiking the Arizona Trail.
What You’ll Find Here
The Textile Trials: Gear reviews that focus on the everyday individual and not just marketing to sell you a product.
Practical Habits: Tips for staying consistent, especially when life and work get in the way.
Zero Gatekeeping: A community that values longevity over ego.
I’m testing the gear and making the mistakes so you don’t have to. I’m just documenting the process of chasin' those goals—one manageable mile at a time.
